Appointments Consultations with Dr. Dattner last at least an hour. We give you enough time for in-depth evaluation and treatment and may include nutritional counseling or alternative treatment which is not covered by insurance. Surgery, lab work, and supplements, if required, cost extra. In order to maintain a high level of care, I do not participate in any insurance companies or HMOs, but I do give patients a superbill to submit to their insurance company to obtain reimbursement.

Time Our can be used most efficiently if you compile some information beforehand. Make a chronological account of the problem of concern, with time-related exposures, illnesses, and events included. When possible, collect and important medical records or summaries, and copies of significant lab and other test reports to bring with you. Keep a diary of what you actually eat for a few days before your visit. Jot down what you eat at each meal.

A preliminary telephone consultation with you or your referring physician can also help make actual visit as productive as possible. I conduct brief follow up visits by phone, to save in travel time and your expense, and in person visits only as necessary.

Email questions I welcome e-mail inquiries about appointments. I regret that I am unable to answer e-mail with questions directly or indirectly related to your diagnosis and treatment without having seen you. Without a more complete understanding of your unique condition, I could be giving information which is not beneficial to you.

Telephone consultations I do telephone and video Skype consultations when it is difficult or impossible for a patient to get to New York. I can often give a valuable perspective on what approaches to take to control a difficult condition, and how to assemble a team to do so. I may also be able to make specific recommendations for the actual steps in care. You should have already been seen by a dermatologist or other physician for his condition and has diagnostic information, send or e-mail photos, and be will need to sign a release acknowledging the limits of my diagnostic ability without actually seeing you in person.
